Current Projects

I am a storyteller, a thinker, and I use paint to express my thoughts first and foremost. I am a sculptor, a writer, and a lover of the experience that is life. Join me on my journey.

A Conscious Rebellion

I think, therefore I am, and my imagination inspires me to realize the paintings I create through a dialectical method of sorts. I approach my work with a desire to communicate in a higher language; communication as a form of protest in the hopes of bringing the viewer into a new consciousness and/or perception of our lived reality. The visions I describe take shape through my landscapes composed of rich allegorical meanings, narratives, and mysteries, acted out by a cast of characters that help me to capture and express something of the magic in the subject matter. These magic moments are real, they are metaphysical, they bear witness to a supernatural process of an altogether mind-expanding experience that only art can afford the sentient being. Its effect on us is what I’m constantly searching to realize in my work, a sense of what I call Supernatural Realism. If Realism approaches everything with an acceptance in seeing things as they are without judgment or expectations, then my role as an artist is to help us pierce through reality by envisioning the very possible occurrence of supernatural events colliding with reality, or multi dimensional realities colliding with each other, if only to achieve a more heightened awareness of our own condition. These ideas formed in my childhood and were greatly nurtured by my mother, who was also an artist, constantly seeking counsel from her mystical beliefs, letting her beliefs be informed by knowledge from the ancients, teachings of the I-Ching and her Tarot Cards, guided by the stars above, offering insight for open minds. I witnessed much mysticism that has become part of my reality, and along with my fascination in the sciences I work to draw lines between the ethers of these two realms to paint an epic moment of profound significance.

Realizing the False Profits of Reality, Part I

My deepest fascinations go to some strange and mysterious places. I have come to realize that the environment you grow up around has huge implications for your character. I grew up with some amazing late 19th and early 20th century books that my mother collected along her travels and used bookstore raids throughout the 1960’s. […]
